FB Live Event: May 20th, 2020

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!

We hosted our third Facebook Live event on May 20th, 2020. It was a huge success! Barbara Hogan, CEO of Timbelo Inc. and good friend from the business community, Andi Schrock sat down to discuss mental health. They were joined by four students from Mason High School: Lana Saqer, Kaya Rossey, Simone Scott, and Sailor Gibson. Their discussion was centered around bringing awareness to mental health and sharing wisdom on the topic. Here are some highlights of the event and resources available:

Key Points:

  • Don't forget to fill your own bucket

  • It's okay to not be okay

  • Be honest with your family about how you're feeling

  • Don't be afraid to ask someone how they are

  • Everyone matters

  • The world needs you as yourself

  • Everyone faces hard things in their life, and everyone's struggles matter

  • Saving a life is worth a broken promise

Advice for Parents:

  • Educate yourself on mental health

  • Build your child up by affirming them (saying things like "you matter", "I accept you" etc.)

  • Just be there for them
